RRB Group D 2026 Expected Cut Off — What to Expect
The official 2026 cut off is not out. Based on previous year trends:
- General (UR) category cut off is expected between 60 to 72 normalized marks for most zones
- OBC cut off typically falls 5 to 7 marks below UR
- SC cut off falls 10 to 15 marks below UR
- ST cut off is usually the lowest — 8 to 20 marks below UR depending on zone
- Ex-Servicemen cut off is consistently around 40 normalized marks across all zones and categories
ℹ️ NOTE: These are estimates based on 2022 and 2019 data. The actual 2026 cut off may differ based on the number of candidates, exam difficulty, and vacancies in each zone. Do not treat these as confirmed numbers.
What Is Normalization in RRB Group D
RRB Group D CBT is held in multiple shifts over several weeks. Different shifts have different difficulty levels. To make this fair, RRB uses normalization.
Your normalized score is calculated based on how you performed compared to other candidates in your shift. A candidate who scored 70 out of 100 in a tough shift may get a normalized score higher than 70. A candidate who scored 70 in an easy shift may get a normalized score lower than 70.
✅ TIP: Always wait for your official normalized score before comparing with cut offs. Never judge your chances based on raw marks alone.

What Happens After the Cut Off — RRB Group D 2026

This is the CBT result stage. Here is what happens next:
Candidates who score at or above the cut off for their zone and category will be called for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). RRB shortlists 3 times the number of vacancies for PET from each zone.
PET tasks are:
- Male candidates: Run 1000 metres in 4 minutes 15 seconds, lift and carry 35 kg weight for 100 metres in 2 minutes
- Female candidates: Run 1000 metres in 5 minutes 40 seconds, lift and carry 20 kg weight for 100 metres in 2 minutes
After PET, document verification happens for candidates who clear the physical test. Final selection is based on CBT merit. PET is qualifying only — it does not add marks.
If Your Score Is Below the Cut Off: Do not be discouraged. RRB Group D is one of the most competitive exams in India with over 1.8 crore applicants. Check your scorecard to identify weak subjects. RRB Group D notification comes out every 2 to 3 years. Use this time to prepare harder and attempt again.

Frequently Asked Questions — RRB Group D Cut Off 2026
Q1: Has RRB Group D Cut Off 2026 been released?
No. The official zone-wise cut off for RRB Group D 2026 has not been released yet. It will be published along with the CBT result on all regional RRB websites. We will update this page and notify you on WhatsApp the moment it is out.
Q2: What is the expected cut off for RRB Group D 2026 for General category?
Based on 2022 and 2019 trends, the UR category cut off is expected between 60 to 72 normalized marks depending on the zone. This is an estimate only. The actual cut off depends on exam difficulty and zone-wise vacancies.
Q3: How many candidates are shortlisted for PET?
RRB shortlists candidates equal to 3 times the number of vacancies in each zone for the Physical Efficiency Test. Clearing the cut off does not guarantee a PET call — you must also rank high enough within that 3x pool.
Q4: What is the difference between raw marks and normalized marks?
Raw marks are what you actually scored in your shift. Normalized marks are adjusted based on the difficulty of your shift compared to other shifts. The cut off is always based on normalized marks, not raw marks.
Q5: The cut off for my zone seems very high — is it fair?
Yes. Zones like Kolkata and Chandigarh historically have higher cut offs because of intense competition and fewer ST/SC vacancies in the open pool. Zones like Chennai and Bangalore tend to have lower cut offs. This is why RRB releases zone-wise cut offs — each zone is treated separately.
Q6: I am an Ex-Serviceman. What cut off applies to me?
Ex-Servicemen have a separate cut off which is consistently around 40 normalized marks across all zones and categories. This is significantly lower than the open category cut off.
Q7: Where will the RRB Group D cut off PDF be available?
The cut off PDF will be released on all regional RRB websites. For Punjab candidates, check rrbcdg.gov.in. We will also share direct download links on this page and on our WhatsApp group.
Q8: Can the 2026 cut off be higher than 2022?
It is possible. If the 2026 paper was easier than 2022, normalized scores will cluster higher and the cut off may rise. If the paper was tough, cut offs may drop slightly. We will only know once results are declared.
