Haryana PRT HTET Deadline Update: Pass by March 2027 or Face Termination (Advt 2/2012)

In a major administrative decision, the Haryana PRT HTET Deadline Update has been officially released by the Directorate of Elementary Education, Panchkula. Through a notification dated February 16, 2026, the department has issued a final ultimatum to Primary Teachers (PRT) recruited based on experience under Advertisement No. 2/2012.

These teachers, who were appointed with the condition of passing the Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) in the future, must now clear the exam by March 2027. Failing to meet this new deadline will result in the immediate termination of their services without further notice.

Background: The Advt No. 2/2012 Case

  • 2017 Amendment: A subsequent letter dated 27.04.2017 instructed District Elementary Education Officers to include a condition in appointment letters stating that these teachers would have to pass the HTET in the future, subject to a separate notification.
  • Current Status: Many teachers appointed under this category have not yet cleared the eligibility test.

The Final Ultimatum (February 2026)

The latest notification serves as the final timeline. The Government has decisively ruled:

  1. Mandatory Clearance: Candidates who have not yet passed the HTET must pass the examination up to March 2027.
  2. Strict Action: If a teacher fails to clear the exam by this date, their services “shall be liable to be terminated without any further notice.”

What Should Affected Teachers Do?

  • Prepare Immediately: With the deadline set for March 2027, affected teachers have approximately one year (depending on the exam schedule) to clear the test.
  • Check Syllabus: Ensure you are updated with the latest HTET Primary Level (Level 1) syllabus.
  • Monitor Dates: Keep a close watch on the Board of School Education Haryana (BSEH) website for the next HTET application forms
